Named after the French word for lines, it takes its texture from stria, fine threads of tonal wool twisted together so the colour shifts gently across the weave rather than sitting in a fixed pattern. Woven entirely in wool, each design blends several closely related shades, giving a flatwoven ground that moves and changes with the light instead of repeating a set motif. There is no pattern to speak of.
