Moiré takes its name from the French word for watered silk, and its pattern from the same rippling, light catching effect: a subtle shift in tone across the surface rather than a fixed motif. The design has been used as a ground for hundreds of years, appearing in fabrics and wallpapers, including in Turnell & Gigon's own archive, and Tim Page Carpets now brings it to the floor as a rug for the first time.
Made in wool or in silk depending on the colourway, and available in eight colourways, Moiré works as a genuinely versatile ground, quiet enough to sit beneath a busier scheme but with enough movement to avoid feeling flat. It is designed to sit particularly well alongside Turnell & Gigon's own moiré fabrics, threading the two brands together in a single room.
